The shooting took place around 5 p.m., Monday, June 5, in the Town of Litchfield at 46 West St., the office of Cramer & Anderson LLP, when police responded to emergency calls that a "firearm was discharged," according to the Connecticut State Police.
When police arrived on the scene they found an adult male in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound, said State Police Trooper Josue Dorelus.
"This individual succumbed to the injuries sustained during the course of the incident," Dorelus said.
Dorelus said the shooter has been identified, and a firearm was recovered from the scene. At least one shot was fire, he added.
State Police, who are conducting the investigation, said they would not immediately be identifying the shooter or the person who died.
The incident “involves a party that is associated with” a Cramer & Anderson law office on West Street, according to Dorelus.
Police added that the motive is unclear, and the relationship between the shooter and the deceased is unclear.
Dorelus revealed the person involved in the shooting contacted police following the shooting.
The law firm released a statement late Monday saying: “A tragic incident occurred at the Litchfield office of Cramer & Anderson LLP Monday involving Partner Robert Fisher.
"State police have labeled it an isolated incident and said there is no danger to the community. Attorney Fisher will be on a leave of absence while the police investigation is carried out, and our Litchfield and Washington Depot offices will be closed Tuesday.
"The firm is fully cooperating with investigators.”
